  • INCF was formed August 1st 2005. Professor Sten Grillner is elected Chairman of the Governing board, and Professor Shun-ichi Amari, Japan and Dr. Bret Peterson, USA, are elected Vice chairs
  • An international committee convened by the Secretary General of GSF, evaluates the bids for secretariat host, and recommends Stockholm
  • November 28th 2005, formal inauguration of INCF at OECD in Paris. It was decided that the Secretariat of INCF will be located at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm
  • The School of Computer Science at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm provides important informatics infrastructure for INCF and contributes with a research position
  • Each member nation is setting up a National Node to further the development of neuroinformatics
  • January 2006, position as Executive Director of the INCF Secretariat announced in Science and Nature
  • April 22nd 2006, Professor Jan Bjaalie, Oslo University, is appointed Executive Director – starting part time in May 2006, and full time September 2006
  • July 2006, INCF website released at www.incf.org
  • October 2006, the INCF participates for the first time as an exhibitor at an international conference  -  Neuroscience 2006 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA
  • December 2006, first INCF topical workshop, delivering analysis of the state-of-the-art and recommendations for actions. Five more workshops in 2007
  • December 2006 - October 2007, recruitment of Scientific Officer, Program Officer, Executive Advisor, Controller, Usability and Requirements Analyst, two Systems Developers, Scientific Information and Public Relations Officer, and Deputy Executive Director
  • February 2007, inauguration of specially designed new space for the INCF Secretariat at Karolinska Institutet
  • April 2007, first INCF workshop report published. Five more reports published during 2007 – 2008
  • October 2007, INCF Governing Board authorizes the launches of first two INCF Programs. Two more programs to be authorized in 2008
  • November 2007, release of Neuroscience Peer-Review Consortium website and services
  • March 2008, establishment of a multi-step process within each INCF Program, including an Oversight Committee, Task Forces and Reference Groups for the development of Standards and Guidelines
  • July 2008, INCF Strategy Overview 2008 – 2010 published
  • July 2008, INCF Software Center, first part of a new INCF portal, released at FENS conference in Geneva, Switzerland
  • July 2008, INCF Newsletter service initiated
  • September 2008, 1st INCF Congress on Neuroinformatics: Databasing and Modeling the Brain, taking place in Stockholm
